CAREER HISTORY & RESUMÉ

As a brief introduction to this page, I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1978 with an Associates Degree in Visual Communication.  I studied drawing, painting, & graphic design. After graduating,  I worked at an ad agency and then a sign shop over the next three years. In 1981 was hired as an artist at WUAB-TV.  I worked at WUAB for ten years, five of which I was the art director.  In July of 1991 I left this position at WUAB-TV to freelance on a full-time basis.
March of 2000 I became the Art Director at Ameriserv.net, an Internet Development & Marketing company in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.  I left Ameriserv in January of 2001 to work for JobOptions.com as a graphic designer in their web development department.  JobOptions.com closed their Cleveland & Indianapolis offices & was absorbed by Enthusian, a division of Spherion Corp. In Atlanta, Georgia.  At that point I went back to freelancing until August of 2006 when I went to work for AmeriMark.com as their Web Designer. I ended up working at AmeriMark for 16 years, 6 1/2 months. My time there ended when they filed for bankruptcy on April 11, 2023. I plan on retiring October 1, 2023.

One of my main areas of expertise is in capturing someone's likeness. I have a lot of experience creating portraits of professional athletes, mostly basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. Much of my work has involved a sports theme which has led to me being thought of strictly as a Sports Artist. In reality my expertise is in faces and figures of any kind. So I'd say I'm a Portrait Artist whether the subject is an athlete or a ballet dancer. I mainly use oil on canvas or illustration board for my paintings. Pencil is nice to work with too.

Among the highlights of my career was being commissioned by The Cleveland Indians to paint Sandy Alomar (1990 American League Rookie of the Year). The painting was reproduced as a poster and given away at the Cleveland Stadium at one of the games in the 1991 season. I was also commissioned by the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 1994-95 Inaugural Season at Gund Arena and the 1999-2000 30th Anniversary Season to produce the artwork used that appeared on the season tickets as well as many other uses.
