The
City Mission - Maybe you've never heard of it? Or you
may think, is that the place where they feed and shelter homeless
men? What exactly does The City Mission do?
For folks like me who grew up in Cleveland and have always known
about The City Mission, it's hard to believe that some people don't
know about our ministry. Yet, as Director, I constantly encounter
those who are strangers to this work or who are amazed at the extensive
scope of this outreach to the disadvantaged. The comment I often
hear is,
"This has to be Cleveland's best-kept secret!"
But it has never been intentional that we are a secret to some -
in fact, it is imperative that the 90-year history of The City Mission
be told for the benefit of those who need our help, as well as the
blessing of potential donors, prayer partners, and volunteers.
Our 1992 relocation from downtown to East 55th and Carnegie - right
in the Midtown corridor - has done much to unveil the secret and
let us be more visible in Cleveland. Also, the expansion of our
ministries over the years into youth, men's,
women and children's, prison ministry, and camping programs has
helped to spread the word.
So, please take a few minutes to read about us, then prayerfully
consider how you may get involved, and be sure to share this story
with someone else. Go ahead! This is one SECRET that we THANK YOU
for telling!!!
