Women's Ministry Expanding

Exciting plans for The City Mission's new facility for women and children was announced at a reception on February 2nd. It will be known as "Laura's Home", or the "Laura Hein Moll Christian Home for Women and Children". The former Glenbeigh hospital on Puritas Road was purchased by The City Mission to accommodate up to 100 women and children. A Capital Fund Drive is underway to renovate the facility, build an addition and cover operating expenses for two years, after which the ministry will be supported by our general operating budget.

Women's Ministry…
Meeting the growing need

The Angeline Christian Home | Laura's Home

Our Women's Program currently consists of Angeline Christian Home, a crisis shelter for women and children. During their average stay of 3 weeks, the staff at the Angeline Home help the women stabilize from the crisis that brought them there, and networks them with other agencies and programs that can help them recover and reenter society.

Women and children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population, and the calls for help far exceed our capacity. Helping women to overcome obstacles and re-establish themselves in the community requires a long term approach. Although there are other resources in the community, they are too few in number and too short in duration to adequately address their needs. So after much preparation, prayer and planning, in December 1999, The City Mission purchased a facility that will become home to 100 women and children in recovery for up to one year. It will be a haven where women who are ready to change their lives can learn the attitudes and skills that will enable them to successfully move back into society and support themselves and their children. We are currently refining our program to suit this new facility and raising the necessary funds to prepare it for use. More info...
