The
City Mission Hosts "The Great Thanksgiving Banquet"
Again
this year, we are praising God and celebrating His bounty
to us by hosting the Great Thanksgiving Banquet for those
we serve. On Sunday November 19th, hundreds of our homeless
guests, program residents, former residents and their families
will come to the Mission for a grand turkey dinner with all
the trimmings.
In
addition, volunteers and staff members will combine forces
to pack and distribute as many as 800 holiday food baskets
for needy families who have been touched by the ministries
of The City Mission. Each food basket will be packed lovingly
with all the necessities to prepare a delicious turkey dinner
for their family holiday gatherings. Those receiving baskets
will also receive a special Gospel message of thankfulness
and forgiveness as the baskets are distributed at The City
Mission during Thanksgiving week.
We
are joining forces with over 200 other Gospel missions across
the USA in providing more than 200,000 meals to the homeless
and poverty stricken this Thanksgiving season. Former Cleveland
Indians pitcher Orel Hershiser is serving as this year's national
chairman of The Great Thanksgiving Banquet.
Our
Great Thanksgiving Banquet is made possible by the generous
financial and volunteer support of people who are committed
to the life-changing ministries of The City Mission. We are
indeed thankful for the many faithful friends who help us
to help those less fortunate this Thanksgiving and all year
round.
