The
Angeline Christian Home | Laura's Home
The
Angeline Christian Home
is an emergency shelter for women and women with children located
on the west side of Cleveland. It is a clean, comfortable home
with 16 beds in semi-private suites, that provides refuge in a
warm, caring environment.
Women
and children are provided with nutritious food, clothing and other
basic necessities. Staff and volunteers provide counseling and
spiritual guidance to help women work through the variety of personal
and relational problems which caused them to become homeless or
in crisis.
Guests
and staff alike look forward to the evening devotional time. Residents
are encouraged to surrender their lives to Jesus and live in a
way which honors Him. Many women take this step of faith and find
in Christ the strength to break the power of addictions as well
as face their fears, overcome feelings of low self esteem, and
begin to build healthy relationships.
Women
stay at the Angeline Christian Home for an average of 14-28 days,
after which referrals are made to other agencies and programs
to address longer-term needs. Last year 464 women and children
were helped, but we received 10 times more calls for assistance
than we were able to accommodate. Women with children have become
the fastest growing segment of the homeless population and the
need in Cleveland for assistance to women has risen dramatically.
We
are currently in the planning stages to expand this program substantially
in size and scope. Please pray with us as we move forward in this
vital ministry.
